Heat Treatment Of Precision Casting

Depending on the different purpose of precision castings, there are lots of heat treatment.
Basically it can be mainly divided into two categories,first class is that the organization structure will not be changed through heat treatmentand or should not be changed,
the second is the changes of basic organizational structure.For the second type of heat treatment, significant changes occurred in the basic organization,it can be roughly divided into five categories:
1.Softening annealing: Its main purpose is to decompose carbide to reduce its hardness, and improve the processing performance,for ductile iron, its purpose is to get more ferrite.
2.Normalizing: The main purpose is to obtain pearlite and sorbite organization to improve the mechanical properties of cast stainless steel.
3.Quenching treatment: Mainly in order to obtain a higher hardness or abrasion strength, while improving wear properties of the surface.
4.Surface hardening:  Mainly in order to obtain the surface hardening layer , and at the same time improve the surface wear resistance properties.
5.Precipitation hardening treatment: Mainly in order to obtain high strength and no violent change.
