What is lost wax casting?

Lost wax casting, also called precision or investment casting is a casting technique, in which an exact duplicate of the original wax sample is being created. This can be achieved by coating successive ceramic layers on the wax model until a strong shell envelops. After melting out the wax, molten metal will be poured into the ceramic mold, creating a perfect duplicate of the original wax pattern.
